Duluth: Man in Burning Pickup Truck Saved by a Marine
Thinking of who to nominate as Atlanta's Hawk Atlanta Hero? Try Sgt. Matthew Sulivan.
A truck in Interstate 85 near Old Peachtree Road in Duluth GA burst into flames last week. The truck was said to be owned by a 26-year-old TaRay McGinnis, who ran out of the passenger side door after the truck caught on fire. Fortunately, Marine Sgt. Matthew Sulivan saw the incident while he was on his way to Lawrenceville’s Marine Recruiting Center and ran to McGinnis right away.
During his interview with a TV Station, he had said that he dragged McGinnis out of his truck right after he saw a black cloud and realized that it was a human being, already completely engulfed on fire. Sgt. Sullivan made him roll on the grass nearby to extinguish the fire. As McGinnis was rolling on the grass, he was screaming in pain, according to Sgt. Sullivan, so he had asked him to keep communicating and even said, “As long as you’re still breathing and screaming, brother, you’re still alive.”
Sounds like a great example of Southern Hospitality and that's why so many people relocate to Atlanta. Ok, shameless reatlor thing there, but seriously this story was too good not to share!
Who would you nominate as an Atlanta Hero for the Atlanta Hawks?
